The Dhammapada is a collection of sayings of the Buddha, delivered in verse form, and is one of the most widely read and best-known Buddhist scriptures.
The original version is in a division of Theravada Buddhism.
Buddhist scholar Buddhaghosa stated that each saying was made by the Buddha in response to a unique situation that had arisen in his life and that of his monastic community.
